The programme is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia (Motac), serving as a benchmark of hygiene and safety standards among the hotel industry of Malaysia.

The “Clean & Safe Malaysia” programme is designed specifically for hotels and resorts in compliance with both local regulatory requirements and international standards. Bureau Veritas Malaysia (BVM), a trusted agency in conformity assessment and certification services for testing, inspection and certification has been appointed as the independent auditor to audit and monitor participating hotels throughout the entire certification period. Both the Sunway hotels in Penang accomplished satisfactory levels under a host of rigorous criteria, including Health and Safety, Management, Facilities, Hygiene and Cleaning.
